Gourmia 5.7L Digital Air Fryer UK Review
Gourmia 5.7L Digital Air Fryer
In this review we will be talking about the Gourmia 5.7L digital air fryer. In the last ten years or so we the consumer have been showered with new technologies and innovative ideas. But in one area there really hasn’t been anything new that was released to grab people’s attention.
That area was in kitchen appliances. You have the oven, the stove, the microwave, deep fat fryer and weather permitting the BBQ. Throw in the odd food steamer or sous vide and that was pretty much it.
Around 2010 a new technology emerged that was going to revolutionise food cooking in a non-gimmicky and actual useful way. The Air fryer was a technology that allowed you to replicate the process of deep frying whilst using very small amounts of oil and electricity.
The first generation of digital air fryers were ok but were more of a novelty than an item you would want to rely on every day. But the improvements that were made on the 2nd and 3rd generations mean you now have a product that you would greatly miss if you no longer had it in the kitchen.
Gourmia 5.7L Digital Air Fryer Release date
The Gourmia 5.7L Digital Air Fryer was released in the UK early 2020. At the time the market was being flooded with different models of varying degrees of quality and reliability. Very quickly though one model started to increase in popularity for a good reason and that was the Gourmia 5.7L Digital Air Fryer. Build quality, reliability, looks. price, ease of use and to maintain were the elements that set the Gourmia 5.7L Digital Air Fryer apart from the competition.
Gourmia 5.7L Digital Air Fryer UK Review: Design elements
The Gourmia 5.7L digital air fryer is one of the better looking air fryers on the market currently. It has a sleek black shiny main body and the front of the barrel has a brushed aluminium cover. Those style elements make this air fryer look way more expensive than what it really is.
I cannot imagine there will be many people who would have a problem having this item on their counter top. The dimensions of this Gourmia air fryer 11 x 12.5 x 13.9 inches or H 34 x W 29 x D 36 cm.
The large capacitive touch screen has 12 pre-set one touch buttons that are clearly labelled for cooking certain foods at the correct temperature. You also have + – buttons that allow you to raise/lower the temperature manually.
When you turn the air fryer on it needs normally about 30 seconds to a 1 minute for it to preheat and will beep to let you know that you can start adding food.
One word of caution – people have been known to put the grease proof paper or tin foil in when the air fryer is pre-heating. This is not a good as the air will force the paper or foil to the top of the fryer and can actually start to burn or cause a lot of smoke.
• Product Dimensions: L: 14.01 in H 13.38 in W: 11.53 in

Gourmia 5.7L Digital Air Fryer UK Review: How good is it at frying?
Like most people you will be curious to know if this Gourmia 5.7L digital air fryer can handle the most important task of producing a crispy breaded/floured chicken wing as good as a deep fat fryer. The answer is a resounding yes.
From our extensive testing you could put a batch of wings in (all the same type, either all mini drums or flats), hit the “wings” pre-set button and 20 minutes later you have a portion of wings that taste almost as good as if you have had deep fried them.
Half way through the frying process the Gourmia 5.7L digital air fryer will beep to let you know to turn the food, at that point that is when I use a spritz of oil with a high smoke point to lightly coat the wings and at the end you will have delicious portion of wings. You will see from a lot of instructional videos online you will see people fully load the basket.
Even though this will still produce a crispy wing due to the nature of how air flows around the Gourmia I have found the best results is when you halve the amount to allow a little bit more air flow around each wing.
The next most important test is the chip test. Can a device with little to no oil produce a crispy fully cooked chip, the answer is yes and no. It depends mainly on the type of potato that you use. One that contains a lot of water might not fare as well as a dryer one. Also if you err on the thinner side of chip cutting you may also get better results. Again filling the basket will not product the result you are looking for if a crispy chip is the end goal.
